The Opium War reproduces the history of the opening of Chinese modern history on a large scale and seeks to reexamine it with the eyes of the present and seeks to make new ideas. The counselors, based on the principle of “seeing history of humiliating themselves in the eyes of a nation that has stood up”, did indeed make new contributions in many parts of the film. However, when I was amazed at the success of these new ideas, my heart was swept over by doubts and doubt from time to time, and I felt that it was necessary to discuss it here. The most “novelty” in the film may count on the characterization of Qishan. Obviously, counseling seems to be trying to show the duality of Qishan’s character, pushing him to the forefront of history as an arrogant and backward nation in the face of the irreversible historical fate of foreign invasion.
