Project Location: Beijing Construction Date: June 2002 - April 2003 Construction Area: 92m ~ 2 Building Structure: Concrete + Brick Design Description: This is a small project to build an entrance hall to an existing office building. The original entrance to the office building is on the south side of the building. The owner hopes to change the main entrance to the east side of the office building. Since there is only one door located at the end of the corridor on the east side of the status quo building, what kind of entrance hall will be added to the extension line will be the key to the design problem. There are two residential buildings built at different times on both sides of the north and south sides of the base of the additional hall. A narrow private road links the base with the urban roads. The design imposes a dark gray on the existing office building, desalinating it and forming a background element with the surrounding residential buildings to enclose the square space in front of the office building. The addition of the foyer uses a simple geometric figure, using the method of placing a slightly curved square cylinder block to make the foyer a visual center on the small square. The square paved with stones picked up from the suburb of Beijing. The alternating performance of the see-through (transparent glass) and non-see-through (frosted glass) spaces in the interior of the foyer triggers the contemplation of the perspective and spatial dimensions of the experience.
