西山农场八队位于乌鲁木齐市南郊,海拔1,380米,土壤为沙壤,耕作层厚15—20厘米,有机质含量在2％以下。这里冬季严寒多风,夏季冷涼少雨,无霜期125天,日夜温差较大,适宜种植马铃薯。 过去,由于耕作管理粗放,品种严重退化,马铃薯大面积单产仅800斤左右。近几年来,我们在马铃薯品种选育和栽培技术方面进行科学实验,摸索到了一些经验。1976年种植2亩多试验田,单产10,080斤;1977年种植15亩试验田,单产5,600斤,其中6.8亩单产8,987斤;1978年种植的47亩试验田,
