The application of copper matrix composites in rocket motors is more limited than aluminum matrix composites. Copper has two properties that attract rocket engine components as a substrate: compatibility with oxygen and high thermal conductivity. Compatibility with oxygen is required for full flow circulation of engine oxidizer PMDs. In the full-flow cycle, the oxygen turbine pump and conduit will be in direct contact with the high temperature oxygen-rich gas stream. These applications also require high temperatures
