Since the 1980s, the world media generally believe that the 21st century world economic, political and cultural center will shift to the Pacific. This article focuses on the following ten aspects to be discussed. (A) Economic growth rate. From 1960 to 1980, the Pacific region, especially the Southwest Pacific region (including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and the ASEAN countries with an average annual economic growth rate of 8%) has been the fastest-growing region in the world for more than two decades. In 1982, the growth rates of gross national product of various countries in the world generally declined, while the growth rates of East Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations reached 4.2%.
