斗转星移,因缘共生。2005年,在昆山市政府的支持下,驻昆的广大台商,特别是宝成集团蔡氏昆仲率先发起重建重兴慧聚古寺,得到社会各界的踊跃响应与促成。水到渠成,项目择址于昆山开发区太仓塘南岸洞庭湖路西侧,总占地面积104.5亩。分为朝觐区、旅游购物区、僧侣生活区、文化广场四大功能区。朝觐区占地约22.5亩,于2008年5月30日动工兴建,至2010年9月15日,天后宫妈祖圣像安座,慧聚寺庙宇已初具规模,彰显南风古韵。福建省泉州市古建筑工程公司在众多竞标者中脱颖而出,总承包了慧聚寺的(参与设计)重建营造,成功造就了一个传统闽台式庙宇的集大成之作。中国园林古建大师亲临指导并参加慧聚寺天后宫升大梁仪式,对慧聚寺的出色营造大加赞许。
