宏观研究与微观研究的区分是古典文学研究者一“执”。关于西者的关系及可行性问题,若干年来始终是学术会议上喋喋不休的话题,正所谓“把破帽年年拈出”(辛弃疾)。不过事出有因,众所关注的问题一定凝集了人们的某种焦虑。我们可以回顾一下《文学遗产》1985年第3期发起“古典文学宏观研究征文”的启事:当前,整个文学研究工作正处在一重要的发展阶段,就古典文学研究来说,也正酝酿着具有重要意义的突破。我们认为,这个突破可以从多方位、多角度、多层次进行,但其重点应放在宏观研究上,这不但因为过去长时间内我们对这方面重视不够,下的功夫不够,
