Some synthetic metalloporphyrins have been widely used as catalysts in biomimetic oxidation due to their function of activating molecular oxygen. Metal tetraphenylporphyrin and its derivatives are the most widely used model compounds. Synthetic methods for various tetraphenylporphyrin derivatives have been reported in the literature, but no systematic synthesis of tetraphenylporphyrin derivatives with alkylthio groups has been reported. This paper reports the synthesis of tetraphenylporphyrin derivatives and their metal complexes. In this paper, the usual one-step synthesis of tetraphenylporphyrin derivatives, namely the first reference to the literature synthesis of alkylthiobenzoyl
