我和圣陶先生并无深交,只是由于曾一度受到先生的奖掖,而被邀在先生百年诞辰来写点纪念文字,虽然没有多话可说,衷心是乐意的。我一生中曾从不少老师接受到终身享用的教育;但私淑之师也有两位,一位是丁颖先生,一位是圣陶先生。他们都是以自己的行为教给了我作人的道理。纪念丁颖先生我写过一篇言不尽意的短文。对圣陶先生则接触更少,连先生的文章也读得不多,却不知为什么对先生的为人总有一个非常鲜明的“和而不同”的印象,而且来得那么自然,令人不可企及。这是否有当,要请与先生交往更深的 I had no deep relationship with Mr. Shengtao, but was invited to write a memento of his centenary birthday because of the once-honored Mr.’s invitation.
