The United States “Engineering News Record” 1975, Vol. 195, No. 10, p. 17 report: The Pontiac City, Michigan, is constructing an inflatable roof structure stadium constrained by steel cables. Covering an area of more than 40,000 square meters, the roof is constructed and installed by workers on four scaffolding winches and an articulated jib crane with a steel cable suspended scaffold. The octagonal stadium can accommodate 80,000 seats and costs about 55.7 million US dollars. The huge dome is made up of 100 pieces of 3.1mm thick Teflon-clad glass fibreboard, of which 32 are rectangular; 4 are triangular; and 64 are diamond. These boards are mounted on the stadium over two
