成功体育是在成功教育的思想启迪下产生的一种教学思想。成功体育理念是以学生发展为本,追求学生潜能的发现与发展,强调所有学生都能获得发展。它是以为每个学生都创造成功的机会为手段,以教师获得成功技能为途径,以提高学生各方面素质为基本任务,以培养学生的成就动机和使每个学生都获得成功为主要目标。作为素质教育的一个分支,成功体育提倡学生在学会一些技术、技能和身体素质得到发展的同时,从内心喜欢体育、理解体育。成功体育的宗旨是对学生负责,积极创造条件,采用多种激励措施,让每一个学生都获得成功的体验,都成为学习上的成功者,使每一个学生都享有体育和健康。
