February 28 to March 1, the Chinese Chemical Society held a 1984 working conference in Beijing. A total of 53 people, including acting secretary-general of Chinese Chemical Society, deputy secretary general of Beijing and secretary-general, deputy secretary-general and full-time cadre of all provinces and cities attended the meeting. Secretary-General Cui Meng-yuan presided over the opening ceremony and made a brief speech. He stressed that the work of the Institute must conscientiously implement the guidelines set forth by the Central Government on “economic construction must rely on science and technology and science and technology must be oriented to economic development” and make every effort to contribute to the four modernizations.
