The Ocean Drilling Program (ODP) 158 voyage set off from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in September 1994 to carry out a sampling program on the slowly expanding mid-Atlantic Ridge with the aim of uncovering an underground hydrothermal lump sulfide Mystery of mineral deposits. We successfully bore a series of boreholes on the moving hills that traversed the TAG hydrothermal field that penetrated the massive sulphide into the underlying net veins. We will use this unique set of rock samples to study the mineralization mechanism of hydrothermal sulfides, understand the microbial evolution in mounds, and summarize the evolutionary patterns of oceanic hydrothermal systems and compare them with those on terrestrial The ancient massive sulfide deposits for analogy.
