南宋末年,许多权贵世家所藏书画作品流入市场。贾似道家藏晋、唐法书近万轴,遭诛后,一部分藏品收回内府,还有一部分流入杭州市场,周密《志雅堂杂钞》和《云烟过眼录》记载曾看到贾氏收藏过的书画作品不下五十轴,这些藏品流落在杭州的各个阶层。有的流落在鉴赏家如周密、乔篑成、郭天锡、鲜于枢、赵孟等手里,有的在不知名的好事者手里,还有的在当时市场上的卖驵手里。如周密《云烟过眼录》卷首就记载赵氏宗亲赵与懃收藏书法一百七十九卷,名画二百一十三卷,而这些作品也多散落民间。再加上此时杭州文人荟萃以及尚好品鉴法书名画等因素,使藏家之间以及藏家与卖驵之间产生了频繁互动,
