The first International Conference on Bible Translators was held at the Woods in Holland in October 1947, marking the beginning of an important factor in the translation of the Bible into linguistics and cultural anthropology. At the center of this conference was a book, Bible Translation, published by the American Bible Society. For the first time, this book explores the issues of language and dialect, various spellings, grammatical categories, and reciprocal principles, as well as further discussions of key terms in the Bible such as sacredness, repentance, baptism, prophets and trials. Since then, Translation Studies (1964) and Translation Theory and Practice (1969) have been published. Using linguistic and cultural factors as the focus of Bible translation, the idea is widely publicized through numerous major conferences and training programs held around the world.
