Liang Zongdai was deeply influenced by the French symbolism poetry and believed that the translation of poetry was like reading poems and was based on ontology “correspondences”. Although the linguistic and cultural differences between the idiomatic language and the target language inevitably result in the loss of translation as a whole, the poem provides the place where the author meets the reader, the author and the translator, pointing to the infinite. The translator’s task is to convey the mystical poetic implication of the original. This article explores his translation outlook with mysticism through the translation of Liang Zongdai’s Chinese and French poetry, combined with Liang Zongdai’s translation theory and poetic creation theory, and then puts it in the background of translation theory.
