农一师连续三年进行了膜侧植棉的试验示范工作.1983年,全师试种膜侧棉20亩,均采用60+30厘米宽窄行,除师农科所、十二团试种的膜侧棉亩产量略低于膜上点播的外,其余均比膜上点播增产2.8—11.1%.1984年,全师播种膜侧棉3,100亩,除九团1,649亩窄行膜侧棉因5月中旬大雨后棉行返盐而减产外,其余的比膜上点播增产7.05—26.6%.1985年,全师播种膜侧棉3,829亩,全为宽行膜侧,除十四团三连减产17.4%外,其余的增产5.76—25.08%.由此可见,膜侧棉比膜上穴播棉增产机率大,在光解膜尚未大面积推广应用、残膜回收问题尚未解决之前,应用膜侧植棉技术具有重要意义.
