今年上半年,东莞市外贸出口形势不容乐观,东莞市委、市政府召开了经济工作会议,要求着眼基层、着眼企业,做好企业的“贴身服务”。尽量为外商提供优质服务,减少简化为外商办事的手续,提高办事效率。虎门镇一直是东莞市经济发展的重要镇区,在改革开放中曾一马当先,率先打开了国门,引进了全国第一家“来料加工”企业。目前,该镇已经拥有1400多家外商投资企业(其中被东莞市认定为重点出口的企业有22家),利用外资金额近12亿美元,虎门镇各项经济指标几乎占全市32个镇区的1/10比例。多年来外贸出口保持着持续增长的势头。2000年外资外贸利税总额完成了6.3亿元人民币,出口值达9亿美元,居全国乡镇领先之列。

In 2000, foreign trade profits and taxes totaled 630 million yuan, with an export value of 900 million U.S. dollars, ranking the country’s leading township and town.
