日本社区教育的起步虽晚于欧美国家,但发展却很快。第二次世界大战后,日本就逐渐形成并完善了自己独特的社会教育模式,整备了一套完整的社区教育体系,它对振兴国家、促进社会经济的高速发展起着积极的作用。并且随着社会发展步伐的加快、新科技革命的兴起、现代化教育手段的不断进步、新教育理论的不断更新,特别是终身教育思潮的广泛流传,日本社区教育越来越发挥着不可估量的作用,越来越为人们所重视。
