安化是一个峯巒起伏,树木葱蔚的山区,不仅風景宜人,还蘊藏着很多的野生药物,有些具有出口价值,有些可供工業原料,有些却正是現在脫銷的商品。这些天然的宝藏,若予以充份的利用,在保健和經济方面,都具有重大的意义,特將所得写出,以供有关部門的参考。(一)山查土名棠梨子、山查子。为落叶灌木,叶闊倒卵形,基部楔形,有鋸齿。五月开白色小花,菓实扁圓形,成熟时紅色。全县均产,估計年产万斤以上。(二)山梔土名黄支子。全县均产,年产約五、六万斤。以皮薄黄赤色为上,經沸水泡过即可久藏,但色較淡。(三)五倍子系五倍子虫寄生于鹽膚木上的虫(?)。本县大福坪一帶为最多?坎桓?以完整光澤而大者为良。
