中国科学院工程力学研究所筹建于1952年,正式成立于1954年,以后经过几个阶段的发展:1952—1962年,称为土木建筑研究所,从事建筑材料、土壤力学,工程结构和建筑设计的研究。1962—1970年,改名工程力学研究所,从事核反应堆结构力学、地震工程、土壤力学、冲击与振动和特殊混凝土材料的研究。1970—1984年,由于地震威胁在中国的增长,改由中国科学院和国家地震局双重领导,到1984年4月又改为国家地震局领导。主要研究集中到地震工程方面,还有小部分力量研究其它工程动力学问题。
The Institute of Engineering Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was established in 1952. It was formally established in 1954 and has undergone several stages of development. From 1952 to 1962, it was known as the Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, engaged in building materials, soil mechanics, engineering structures and architectural design. the study. From 1962 to 1970, it was renamed the Institute of Engineering Mechanics and engaged in the research of nuclear reactor structural mechanics, earthquake engineering, soil mechanics, impact and vibration, and special concrete materials. From 1970 to 1984, due to the growth of the earthquake threat in China, it was replaced by the dual leadership of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the State Seismological Bureau. By April 1984, it was renamed the National Seismological Bureau. The main research focuses on seismic engineering, and there is a small part of the power to study other engineering dynamics.
