一、果园的规模与生产效率 美国柑桔栽培集中于四个州。我们访问的加利福尼亚州和佛罗里达州,柑桔栽培面积和产量占全国的百分之九十左右,其集中情况可见一斑。以佛罗里达州与我国相比,该州柑桔面积不及我国(台湾省未计在内)的十分之九,而年产量超过我国的十倍。在佛罗里达州中部的一个称为克莱蒙镇,耸立着一个供游览用的柑桔塔,二十二层,近七十米高。登高眺望,四方皆桔,借助望远镜也望不到柑桔园的边缘,据统计周围二千平方英里,柑桔树达一千七百万株。如此集中、成片的果园规模实属罕见。
First, the size and efficiency of orchards Citrus cultivation in the United States concentrated in four states. So concentrated, into a piece of orchard size is rare.
