每年的4月底至5月初, 是辛勤耕耘的美国教师们一年中最幸福的时候。在这一时期,美国各地纷纷举行诸如“教师节”“感谢教师周”“盛赞教师周”等各种各样的传统庆祝活动,其中最负盛名的活动就是在白宫由总统亲自出席授奖仪式并致辞的一年一度的“国家教师奖”颁奖庆典。 2005年“国家教师奖”获得者是31岁的中学数学教师詹森·卡姆拉斯(Jason Kamras)。卡姆拉斯先后在普林斯顿大学和哈佛大学获得学士和硕士学位,他在毕业后的8年中一心致力于中学数学教育,为改变教育资源分配不平等的现状而不懈努力(详见本刊2005年06B 《谁来代言美国教育》)。今年,“国家教师奖”的得主是金伯丽·奥利弗。
From the end of April to the beginning of May each year, the happiest hour of hardworking American teachers of the year. During this period, various traditional celebrations such as Teacher’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Praise Teacher’s Week were held all over the United States, of which the most prestigious activity was to personally attend the awarding ceremony by the president at the White House Speech of the annual “National Teachers Award” award ceremony. The 2005 National Teacher Award winner was a 31-year-old secondary school math teacher Jason Kamras. Kamelas graduated with a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Princeton University and Harvard University. After eight years of graduation, he devoted himself to math education in middle schools and made unremitting efforts to change the status quo of unequal distribution of educational resources (for details, Year 06B “Who speaks American education”). This year, the winner of the National Teacher Award is Kimberly Oliver.
