聚合草为紫草科,属多年丛生草本植物,又名紫草根、爱国草(朝鲜)、友谊草(吉林)、肥羊草(北京植物园)。是我国当前大力推广的一种高产优质饲料作物。一九七七年八月我站进行小面积切根试种,第二年生长茂盛,叶丛高六十公分左右,叶片长五十公分左右,一九七八年割四茬,鲜草亩产万斤以上。它的营养成份接近或超过紫花苜蓿,据北京农科院畜牧兽医研究所分析,粗旦白质鲜草含4.6％、干物质含28.5％。
