A joint team of French and Italian archaeologists conducted a six-year archeological excavation along the Indian Ocean’s Arabian coast. Not long ago, in an archeological study on the easternmost part of the Arabian Peninsula, they found the remains of the oldest sailing ship to date in a headland called the “Ras Al-Juarez”. The wreckage is some bitumen or man-made tar fragments, totaling more than 300 pieces. Most of them leave a clear impression of the reed rope. From the other side of many asphalt blocks, prints of various molluscs are visible, indicating that the objects to which they are attached have been soaked in seawater for a long time.
