The authors report that the urease test, which has been routinely applied, has been slightly modified for Campylobacter pylori testing in a 1-minute endoscopy chamber and can be diagnosed before endoscopy is complete. The authors collected two gastric biopsy specimens from 40 patients (13 males and 27 females, aged 26-84 years, mean 53.3 years) with upper gastrointestinal symptoms and suspected patients with Campylobacter pylori infection. One specimen was sent to a microbiology laboratory, stained with Gram stain and seeded in Skirrow medium. Bacteria were examined after incubation for 4 to 7 days in a micro-oxygen environment at 37 ° C and inoculated into Christensen’s urea broth for standard urease tests. Another specimen was immediately placed in an endoscope chamber containing 1 ml of 10% (w / v), pH6.8 urea solution and 2 drops of 1% phenol red, freshly prepared in deionized water
