关于家字的本义,我国的古文字学家曾经进行过多方面的考释,提出过种种不同见解,但迄无定论,成为文字训诂学上一大疑案,引起越来越多的人的关注。在众说纷纭中,“屋里养猪”说影响较广。从家字的篆体形状上看,的确是上有屋形下有豕。但这不是“家”的初文,而且也不宜在“宀、”豕“上面大做文章,用拆字的方法望文生义,而应从字形演变、发展规律结合音义加以考究,才能得出正确的结论。
