高炉喷煤技术在过去的十年在全世界范围内已获得了蓬勃迅猛的发展。南朝鲜光阳厂开始引进高炉喷煤(PCI)技术的目的是为了用便宜的非炼焦煤取代昂贵的炼焦煤以降低生铁的成本,并通过风口喷吹碳氢化物的方法以保持平稳的炉况。光阳厂1号、2号高炉的煤粉喷吹系统相继于1987年7月和1988年8月建成投产,其时正常的煤粉喷吹量是每吨铁水53千克。
