“君子”是一个能够代表中华文化传统的关键词,“君子”含义的翻译应该是一个跨文化交际问题.因此我们有必要对此给予应有的重视,本论文里列举了《诗经》、《周易》、《论语》、《中庸》、《孟子》英译本里“君子”的译法,并就“君子”一词的历史演变过程和如何理解这一特殊文化词加以分析。通过多种译本对“君子”一词的翻译对比,论文指出了“君子”的真正含义以及和“绅士”的本质区别,并就它的一些英译所造成的文化障碍进行探讨。
The “gentleman” is a key word that can represent the Chinese cultural tradition. The translation of the meaning of “gentleman” should be a cross-cultural communication issue. Therefore, we must pay due attention to it. This paper lists “ The Translation of the Book of the Book of Songs, The Book of Changes, The Analects of Confucius, The Doctrine of the Mean, and The Men of Men in the English Version of Mencius, and the Historical Evolution of the Word “Gentleman” and How to Understand this Special Culture Words are analyzed. Through multiple translations of the word ”gentleman“, the paper points out the true meaning of the ”gentleman“ and the essential difference between the ”gentleman" and the cultural obstacles caused by some English translations.
