China Jilin · Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo(Northeast Asia Expo for short), co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission and Jilin provincial government under the approval of the State Council, is the only comprehensive expo for the five nations of Northeastern Asia and open to the whole world. It is held annually in September in Changchun City, Jilin Province.
The six Northeast Asia expos since the year 2005 have implemented Premier Wen’s directive of expanding cooperation within Northeast Asia and revitalizing the industrial bases in Northeast China. With a goal of becoming the No.1 expo in North China, the Northeast Asia Expos have yielded fruitful results thanks to good planning, excellent organization, and focus on sub- stantial results. They were participated by 270,000 companies and organizations from 117 nations and regions, of which over 300 are Fortune 500, and 535 government officials above the viceministerial (provincial) level. The volume of trade in goods reached US$2.7 billion on an accumulative basis. Contracts were signed for 1,278 investment and cooperation projects, with a total investment of over RMB 620 billion.
The participation of senior Chinese government officials such as former vice Premiers Wuyi and Zeng Peiyan, Vice Premier Wang Qishan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice Premier Li Keqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Wang Gang, has greatly enhanced the influence of the Northeast Asia Expo and Top Forum. UN officials and senior officials of commerce and trade of the five Northeast Asian nations and other nations around the world had also gathered in Changchun City to promote exchange and cooperation.
Over the past six years, Northeast Asia Expo has become increasingly famous and influential in Northeast Asia and the world at large. The level of government officials, companies and organizations participating in the show has been on the rise. Investment and trade volume has also been increasing. By holding the many conferences, forums and events, the expo has served as a top forum for Northeast Asia nations to have dialogue with the rest of the world, making great contribution to regional economic development, the revitalization of Northeast China and the opening up of Jilin Province. It has also become a platform for the industrial bases in Northeast China and Jilin Province to conduct economic and trade cooperation with the rest of the world. The expo has been awarded such title as China’s Most Influential Government-Led Exhibition, The Most Influential Brand Exhibition on the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of PRC, 2010 China Top Ten Brand Exhibition and 2010 China’s Most Internationally Influential Exhibition. It ranked the third among government-led exhibitions in China.
The 7th China Jilin · Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo is to be held in Changchun International Conference&Exhibition Center from 6 to 11, September, 2011. Focusing on innovation, uniqueness and substantial results, this exhibition will be more international, top-notch and fruitful than its predecessors.
The 7th Northeast Asia Expo will have a pavilion to display the 12th Five-Year Plan for the revitalization of Northeast China, with focuses on plans to develop pillar and advantageous industries. The pavilion will also display the development and opening up of the Chang-Ji-Tu Region, and industrial cooperation between Northeast Asia nations, so as to make it both international and local. Besides, there will Hong Kong Goods Pavilion, Taiwan Goods Pavilion, Northeast Asian Goods Pavilion, Good
and Drug Pavilion, Technology, Electronic&Infromation Pavilion, Investment Cooperation Pavilion and 7000m2 outdoor exhibition area. Indoor booths continue to be 100% specially decorated.
Centering on trade in goods, investment cooperation, conferences and forums, and cultural exchange, the expo will continue to attract high-end commodities, display investment environment, discuss regional cooperation, conduct cultural exchange, so as to strengthen and expand exchange and cooperation in the Northeast Asian region.
Organizers of the expo aim to create an international platform for trade in goods, consolidate the importance role of the expo in regional economic cooperation, create a platform for commerce and trade for Northeast Asian nations, gather fine commodities and buyers from China and the world at large, maximize the volume of spot trade in goods, make trade in Northeast Asia more convenient and free, and facilitate the formation of China-Japan-South Korea Free Trade Area and Northeast Asia FTA.
The expo organizers aim to crate a win-win investment cooperation forum for China and the world. Nations and regions will be invited to promote their projects during the show so as to marry projects and capital. The expo will continue to promote the revitalization of Northeast China and the development of Chang-Ji-Tu pilot zone, display China’s key strategic projects, unveil the latest policies on investment, and demonstrate key industries of Northeastern Asian nations, so as to achieve shared development in Northeast Asia and the world at large.
They also aim to create a broader platform for international dialogue by holding the Top Forum on Trade and Economic cooperation in Northeast Asia, the World Industrial Leaders Conference, Northeast Asia Local Government Officials Summit and other high-end international conferences and forums. The expo will unveil policies on regional cooperation and information on key industries in all nations in innovative ways, help the Northeast Asian nations sign bilateral or multilateral agreements on cooperation in a wider range, actively build a stable mechanism for regional cooperation, facilitate the formation of a state-level mechanism for dialogue between Northeast Asian nations, and promote peaceful cooperation and harmonious development in the region.
The expo is also a platform for cultural exchange. A series of cultural exchange activities will be held such as the Northeast Culture and Art Week, Northeast Asia International Painting, Calligraphy and Photography Exhibition, Northeast Asia University Presidents Forum, so as to extract the essence of different cultures in the regions, display fine culture, strengthen the cultural sector of the expo, facilitate cultural exchange and cooperation between Northeast Asian nations, and promote cultural development and prosperity in the region.
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Jilin (China Chamber of Commerce Jilin), the organizer of all the Northeast Asia Expos held in the past, had made full use of its contacts, undertook to invite investors and exhibitors for the Taiwan Pavilion, Macao Pavilion, Hong Kong Pavilion in the three regions, successfully held 24 economic and trade events such as the World Chinese Businessmen Summit, Jilin-Taiwan Economic and Trade Forum, invited 2,946 clients (2,655 overseas, 292 domestic) from 32 countries and regions. All tasks were well fulfilled. For the 7th Northeast Asia expo, CCPIT are responsible for inviting investors and exhibitors for the Taiwan Pavilion, overseas buyers and chambers of commerce. It will also sponsor such conferences as the Joint Conference of Presidents of Chambers of Commerce in Northeast Asia, and the Jilin-Taiwan Enterprises Negotiation Conference.
