荆沙合并,既是历史发展的必然结果,也是区域经济发展的客观要求。根据荆沙市委、市政府提出的“把握新机遇、建设新荆沙、迈向大城市、推进现代化”的战略目标,要建设荆沙大城市,当前的一项重要任务就是要重新分析荆沙市的区位条件、资源开发现状及其优、劣势,从而明确荆沙市的发展方向、调整生产力布局的思路和改善投资环境的重点。
