北京外城永定门,原位于今永定门内大街南端与永定门东、西街之交会处,是老北京城外城南城垣的正中门,其城门楼的规制与外城其他六城门不同。永定门是由城门楼、马道、瓮城、箭楼、值房、吊桥等建筑组成的一组城堡建筑群。城楼,有守卫、瞭望、指挥等功能,也有表明城门规制、威仪之作用(封三图二)。城楼之城台顶面以城砖海墁并与城垣顶面甬道相通,城台宽28.3 m;深13.7 m;高8.3 m,
Beijing Yongding Gate, originally located at the south end of Yongdingmen Nei Da Avenue and the east and west of Yongding Gate, is the center gate of the south wall of Old Beijing.
