To understand the treatment of cerebral malaria, 37 medical records of “cerebral malaria” treated during January-April 1988 in Nakuru provincial hospital in Kenya were collected and analyzed. Plasmodium falciparum was found on all patients’ blood smears and had one or more of the following symptoms or signs: delirium, coma, polygamy and meningeal irritation. More than half of patients have mental disorders, fever and headaches. The most common signs of loss of orientation, followed by meningeal irritation. 16% of patients have no fever.
