抗氧化剂是指能干扰自由基链式反应的启动和扩延,并阻断其反应过程的物质。机体的许多组织中,都含有这种物质。实验证明:酶性抗氧化剂(如超氧化物歧化酶)、还原型捕捉剂(如二甲基巯脲和谷胱甘肽),以及天然捕捉剂(如维生素E)等,都有减轻晶体过敏性眼炎,抑制光对晶体和视网膜脂质过氧化损伤的作用。提示抗氧化剂的研究能为某些眼病的防治找出新途径。
