In recent years, trace element analysis of organic elements has been mostly automated and instrumentalized in many foreign countries to produce many kinds of commodity instruments. However, the work in this field is still to be developed in China. We conducted a systematic study on the method for the determination of four elements of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen in organic matter by using reaction chromatography. In collaboration with Beijing Analytical Instrument Factory, we modeled the Italian Carlo Erba 1104 elemental analyzer and developed a prototype for performance in China application.
