Tennessee Williams is one of the most representative playwrights in the Southern American literary writers group, whose dramatic artistic creation is closely linked with the South of the United States. The southern part of the United States, especially the Mississippi Delta, has become its source and narrative background. The unique geographical features of the Mississippi Delta have a decisive influence on the thinking and behavior of southerners. South is the hometown of Williams, but also the source of inspiration and creative material. The dramatists praised the plantation cultural traditions, condemned the destruction of industrial culture to the south and deeply attached to the ancient southern cultural traditions, regretting and distressing the decline of southern culture. In Williams’s writing, southern women are the spokesmen for the ancient southern cultural traditions. They are the products of the ancient southern culture and the victims of the old southern culture. Williams’ creations have become an important part of the history of American literature for its reproduction of the South of the United States.
