As in the previous five-year economic development plan (1978-1982), the Philippine National Economic Development Plan 1983-1987 (1983-1987) also sought to achieve a more equitable distribution of wealth and social comprehensiveness in line with the country’s economic growth The overall goal of development is to adjust the strategy and policy of the plan. This article focuses on the strategic issues of industrial development, including the content of the 11 major industrial construction projects to be implemented within five years from 1983 to 1987 and the structural adjustment and rationalization of some industrial sectors.
