In the early winter of 1960, in the early winter of 1960, Jiuquan, a native of Sichuan province, named Zhang Bingnan, died of famine and hunger and died in a few days after being buried by local people using straw and wicker. In fact, the deceased elderly man was once a great man. In the 1930s, he served as Xiong Guobing, chairman of the Supreme Soviet in Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces and a member of the West Army Military and Political Committee. This article affectionately traces the legendary revolutionary career of Xiong Guobing, an iron-clad tough-man, during the Agrarian Revolution and his arduous life of losing his true name to a strange land without losing the essence of the revolution after the failure and organization of the West Route Army.
