OBJECTIVE: To analyze the relationship between urinary β2-MG and severity of injury (ISS) and pediatric trauma score (PTS) to provide a simple, effective and noninvasive method for judging the severity of trauma in children. Methods: Urine β2-MG was detected on the 1st, 3rd and 5th day after trauma in 117 traumatized children and compared with ISS and PTS values. Results: The urinary β2-MG value of the first day of trauma group was significantly different from that of the control group (P <0.001). The urinary β2-MG value of the first day after injury was positively correlated with ISS (P <0.001) (P <0.001). Dynamic observation of urinary β2-MG decreased significantly within 5 days after injury in children. Conclusion: Urinary β2-MG can be used as a simple, rapid and noninvasive index to evaluate the severity of trauma in children. Dynamic detection of urinary β2-MG levels in children with trauma can reflect the evolution of the disease. With the improvement of trauma, urinary β2-MG Gradually reduce the level.
