Foreign language anxiety is generally considered to have negative effects on second acquisition.The selected participants were from147 freshmen in Yunnan Normal University.The questionnaires conclude Hortwitz’s FLCAS and Oxford’s SILL.10 participants from high-anxiety and low-anxiety groups were randomly selected for an in-depth qualitative study.The findings indicate that students with low anxiety use more frequently affective,meta-cognitive,memory strategies to lower anxiety than highly anxious ones.
