继去年美网首轮出局后,4号种子柳比西奇首轮出局,再遭与罗迪克同处1/4区的厄运。自2003年法网罗迪克出任6号种子到本届澳网,共16次大满贯中,与罗迪克同处1/4区的另一位前8种子,没有一次能在1/4决赛会师(罗迪克只有一次不是前8种子,是在去年美网,他打进8强)。澳网第2天,因白天气温过高,许多外围球场赛事被移至傍晚进行,所有男单赛事在1月17日凌晨才结束。女单则有12场赛事被安排在第三天进行。
