以“五四”运动为标志的新文化运动,发生了一场意义十分深远的语言革命。这场语言革命的先驱人物李大钊、胡适、陈独秀等,不仅批判旧文化,而且呼唤新文化,创立一代新的语言符号系统。语言不仅仅是思维与交流的工具,在某种意义上,语言就是本体,就是基本范式。它是人类一切交流工具的元命题,是人的生存本体所拥有的基本范式之一。因此,改革语言符号系统本身就是深化人的认识作用。语言革命的结果,不仅创造了与过去完全不同的新文学,而且还学到了科学与民主精神,从而将“人”从君权、神权和旧道德概念中解放出来。这场语言革命,不仅当时受到保守派的非议和攻击,而且在后来的几十年间曾两度被扬弃和否定。
In the new cultural movement marked by the May 4th Movement, a very far-reaching linguistic revolution took place. Li Dazhao, Hu Shi, Chen Duxiu, pioneers of the language revolution not only criticized the old culture, but also called for a new culture and created a new generation of linguistic signs. Language is not only a tool of thinking and communication. In a sense, language is noumenon and is the basic paradigm. It is a meta-proposition of all the tools of human communication and one of the basic paradigms possessed by human beings. Therefore, the reform of the linguistic sign system itself is to deepen the understanding of human beings. The result of the language revolution has not only created a new literature completely different from the past, but also learned the spirit of science and democracy, thereby liberating “human” from the concepts of monarchy, theocracy and the old morality. This language revolution was not only denounced and attacked by conservatives at the time, but was twice discarded and denied for decades.
