一、教学内容分析
本课是北师大版《普通高中课程标准实验教科书·英语(必修)4》第十二单元第三课Reading部分。本单元主要让学生了解中外文化、风土人情、生活方式等方面的异同。阅读材料是关于一些来自不同国家的人到国外生活所感受到的文化冲突与困惑。
二、学生的学习情况分析
学生对西方国家的风土人情已有一定的接触和了解,对这些异域文化知识的学习,比较感兴趣。虽然学生有一定的语言积累,但是表达上的欠缺、性格上的拘束以及文化上的差异让他们在“文化交流与体验”方面存在较大的困难。
三、教学目标
语言知识目标:立足语言实践活动,在完成阅读和习俗体验的任务过程中掌握新词汇、短语以及文化冲突故事。
语言技能目标:阅读能力,口语自由表达能力。
学习策略目标:学生能在一定程度上形成自主学习、有效交际、用英语思维和收集信息的能力,使得学生在体验中学习英语。
情感态度目标:了解中外文化,通过对英美国家风俗习惯的探究与学习,学会尊重别人,入乡随俗,礼貌得体地与他人交往;通过课堂活动,学会与同学合作、探究学习。
四、教学重点和难点
本文阅读教学、阅读理解的逐层深入。
阅读策略的运用:略读、推断等。
帮助学生更好地理解文化冲突,实现跨文化交际。
五、教学过程设计
Step 1. Warming up
1. Show some pictures and watch a video, discuss in groups.
① What is the USA most famous for? How about China?
2. And we also have learnt different manners in different cultures.
② What do people do in open cultures?
③ What do closed cultures mean to you?
3. students try to answer questions to see which team is the quickest and the most clever.
Step 2 Lead-in
让学生观看汇丰银行涉及文化冲击的广告(http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/HGA2rENK6E4/),引入新课。

Step 3 While-reading
1.Skim the passage to get main ideas.
Task1 Find the right writers for culture shock.

What is the right attitude towards culture difference?
In my opinion, cultural differences should simply be seen as a way of making life interesting. Imagine how boring it would be if we did everything exactly the same way! Learning to understand and respect differences is, after all, what life is all about . When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Step 4 Homework
① Read the passage Living with Differences on Page85 on the text book.
② Learn about the usage of Present Partiples, and finish Ex.7
