清朝末年,恶霸地主冯兰池为侵吞公产,要砸毁千里堤上的一口古钟。贫苦农民朱老巩挺身而出,为锁井镇的乡亲们拼死护钟,大闹柳树林,致使他吐血身亡。老巩的女儿被逼投河,儿子小虎远逃关东。20年后,朱老忠(小虎)返回故乡,目睹和经受着国民党反动派、帝国主义和封建势力的残酷剥削。在共产党领导下,他提高了阶级觉悟,积极组织贫苦农民,和地主冯兰池及反动派展开了针锋相对的斗争,并取得初步胜利。共产党在冀中平原播下的火种,将迅猛燃烧起来。王怀骐同志因病于2010年9月逝世。我们回顾他的代表作——连环画《红旗谱》,以缅怀这位河北连环画界、美术界的巨擘。
