首次为《社会与公益》撰稿,先向一众读者问好。笔者在社会福利界已有七年工作经验,希望藉此平台与大家分享所见所闻。香港的长者服务可简单分为院舍照顾服务及小区照顾服务两类。护理程度较高的长者可轮候院舍照顾服务,反之则可以使用小区照顾服务。没错,细心的你一定发现笔者用了「轮候」二字。虽然在提供院舍服务上,香港政府及有关营办者所投入的资源已极庞大,但对于现时仍有数以万计的长者因为名额不足,在家等待数年才能配对合适的院舍服务,此情况实令人叹息!投身长者服务后,笔者时常思考如何响应小区长者的多方面需要,最后的答案是诚意及创意。
