地质结构对等效速度的影响目前在地震反射波法解释工作中,速度谱的应用范围日趋广泛。对迭加处理的动校正;经过初至、相位、倾角校正后对测井速度的代替;层速度分析中进一步认识岩层物性的横向变化;甚至在纵向上区别沉积旋回确定地层年代等都需要大量的速度谱资料。由于数字处理精度高、速度快,速度谱资料的获得手段是经济而迅速的。然而,速度谱的应用成功与否,取决于许多因素,其中正确的工作程序和正确的分析手段都离不开产生速度谱的基础资料——反映地震地质结构的原始资料。
