长屿硐天风景区位于浙东沿海,明朝时屡遭倭寇侵犯,人民的生命财产受到严重威胁。为此,民族英雄戚继光曾率部多次在此与敌人交锋,击败倭寇的进犯,留下了许多人文古迹。南塘戚公奏捷实记碑嘉靖三十八年(公元1559年)倭寇流窜至如今的长屿硐天风景区新河,驻守在新河的戚继光观察分析敌情后,先派员将内河通大海的出口处凿沉2只船,并打木桩,堵塞倭寇船退路,然后分兵合击,大败倭寇于新河城内斗门
