文章从象征资本的角度来分析在电影《窈窕淑女》中语言对于不同角色的价值作用。作为一种交流工具,语言本质上不存在高低贵贱之分。但人们对语言判断、划分标准的社会性导致了不同形式语言获得不同的社会认可度。语言作为一种象征资本,象征着使用者的人文素养,教养背景及社会地位。Eliza通过学习上层社会的口音实现社会身份的重新构建。但是,语言作为象征资本,在实现“物质化”前,必须获得社会认可。Higgins及其学生的语言才能在通过社会的语言认证之后实现经济价值。
From the perspective of symbolic capital, the article analyzes the value function of language in different roles in the movie “Fair Lady”. As a communication tool, the language is essentially no distinction between high and low. However, people’s judgment of language and standardization of sociality have led to different social recognition of different forms of languages. Language as a symbol of capital, a symbol of the user’s humanities, education background and social status. Eliza rebuilds social identities by learning the accent of upper-class society. However, as a symbolic capital, language must be recognized by the society before realizing “materialization.” The language of Higgins and its students can achieve economic value after passing social language certification.
