Objective: To investigate the role of prostaplandin in gastric mucosal perfusion in portal hypertensive gastropathy (PHG) rats. Methods: After partial ligation of the portal vein of rats for 2 weeks, the gastric mucosal blood flow (GMBF) was measured by neutral red-clearing assay. The effects of portal vein pressure (PVP), mean arterial pressure (MAP) And heart rate changes. Results: There was no significant difference in MAP and heart rate between PHG group and sham operation group (P> 0.05). The GMBF and PVP in PHG group were significantly higher than those in sham operation group (P <0.01). Indomethacin, a prostaglandin cyclooxygenase inhibitor, significantly decreased GMBF in PHG rats (P <0.05), while had no effect on GMBF in sham operation rats. Conclusion: Prostaglandin plays an important role in regulating GMBF in PHG rats.
