《沧浪之水》中池大为的个人奋斗史,真实而深刻呈显了当代知识分子所面临的生存现状。为了生存,池大为在灵魂的痛苦搏斗中走向了一条堕落之途。这里有对传统价值失落的悲哀,也有心灵煎熬的隐痛。池大为犹如巴尔扎克《高老头》里的拉斯提涅,但是拉斯提涅在堕落的道路上走得更从容与彻底。在这两个人奋斗史的后面,可以看出巴尔扎克与阎真向我们以隐喻的模式在传达着一个人类生存与发展中的悖谬现象。
